PEPA's reviews the Town of Harrison's Draft Comprehensive
(Master) Plan
Background
As a blueprint for development decisions several years into the
future, the new Master Plan should reflect the community's
vision for the Town. New York State law generally requires
planning board approval and a public hearing for new developments.
Special variances and permits must be approved and a vote by
the Town Board is required. However, a Master Plan delineates
zoning for nearly every parcel of land and determines the ground
rules for application to the government. In addition, a Master
Plan offers a philosophy for economic development and provides
a guide for Town Board decisions. As such, it presents a crucial
opportunity for public involvement.
Action
PEPA has hired professional planners to review and comments on
the draft Plan. By hiring professional staff, we hope to further
our emphasis on planned development in harmony with our neighborhoods
and the environment.
